Hindin and McDaniel in Top 1% For Real Estate Apprentice® Grant
August 5th, 2005 - “In some careers, lively people-networks and being well known in the community are unimportant assets, but in real estate it is almost the agent’s life-blood,” said the Real Estate Apprentice Foundation’s Deputy Executive Director Dr. Martin Oliver. These remarks were made this week as The Foundation announced that two new Prudential Real Estate Agents: Joan Hindin and Roxann McDaniel are among the Top 1% of Semi-Final applicants (6 of 30) chosen to compete for the Real Estate Apprentice Grant Award for Season II (January-June, 05). Although both Joan and Roxann just recently passed their real estate exams, they have an extensive background in television commercial airtime sales and are both well known in their communities. As new Prudential Real Estate agents they should be able to translate those skills directly into successful real estate sales careers” Oliver said.
Joan Hindin grew up in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania in a family that taught her the importance of honesty, and integrity. Being the daughter of a Mayor reinforced those points. Joan’s mother was actively involved in community volunteer organizations and influenced her to do the same. Her parents' positive influences on her life are now very apparent. “Some of my favorite memories of childhood include going food shopping with my mother and brother for families whose fathers were out of work,” said Joan. “We would wait until it got dark and take the food to their front door, ring the bell and run away so they wouldn’t see who did it." Joan went on to work for a television news anchorman as an Account Executive selling syndicated radio and television programs across the country. In the summer of 1980, she left television to work as the Executive Assistant for the Pennsylvania State Chairman of the Reagan/Bush Presidential Campaign and in 1981 was asked by the Whitehouse to work in the communications room for President Reagan’s visit to Philadelphia to address the World Affairs Council. Most recently Joan decided to integrate here extensive community contacts into a real estate business that helps people make their homeownership dreams come true. She received her real estate education through Tri-State Real Estate School, a RealtyU® Affiliate in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, and passed her exam on June 23, 2005. Joan is now working full time for Prudential Fox & Roach in Haverford, Pennsylvania.
A second generation native Houstonian, Roxann McDaniel, worked as an Account Executive for about 15 years selling television commercial airtime for such networks as CNN, ESPN, USA and TNT. Roxann built a reputation on reliability and strong work ethics, which resulted in high customer sales and client retention. For her, sales management was very rewarding and the team succeeded in bringing the company’s sales above and beyond a profitable position in the market, enabling them to sell the division. When she was offered a position that required relocating she used the opportunity to reinvent herself and decided to become a trained wedding planner. Although it sounds like a lot of fun, in actuality it was not very profitable, so to make ends meet she also sold estate property and new homes for a local builder. It was this experience, and working directly with professional REALTORS®, that inspired Roxann to get her real estate license and begin her new career. She studied real estate with Champions School of Real Estate, a RealtyU® Affiliate in Houston, Texas and passed her national and state exams on June 9th, 2005. Roxann is now working full time with Prudential Gary Greene Realtors in The Woodlands, Texas.
Season II of The Real Estate Apprentice Foundation garnished 3,593 applications from which the top 5% (171 applicants) were selected to move to the second round.
