Power Broker Dinner Spotlights Real Estate Apprentice® Winners
ALISO VIEJO, CA, November 2, 2005- Since 1907, the Fairmont Hotel has been host to the most important meetings and events held in San Francisco. So it was natural that Kendra Shearer of Marietta, Georgia and Katie Wyatt of Wichita, Kansas, the first two Grand Prize Winners of the Real Estate Apprentice Grant Program, received special acknowledgement at the acclaimed 10th Annual Power Broker Dinner. The Grand Gala event was staged at The Fairmont last Friday, the first day of the 4-day National Association of REALTORS® Convention in San Francisco.
A packed banquet hall of 800 real estate leaders were present as Stefan Swanepoel, Founder of the Real Estate Apprentice Grant Foundation, together with Mike Lancaster, EVP, First American Residential Group and Don Hobbs, Co-Founder of Hobbs/Herder Advertising, spoke about the importance of reaching out to new rookie agents. “These people are the future of our industry,” Swanepoel said "and everyone in the industry has a responsibility to help make the real estate industry a better and more professional environment for future real estate agents and consumers.”
According to Lancaster, First American was thrilled and privileged to be involved with the Foundation and challenged other companies to step up to the plate and invest into the industry in which everyone was earning a living. Hobbs, not only a sponsor but also a judge, emphasized the impressive selection of candidates that had applied for the Real Estate Apprentice Grant and praised the extraordinary commitment and integrity of the two winners.
The Real Estate Apprentice Grant Program www.RealEstateApprentice.com is open to all new real estate agents that have taken or will be taking a real estate licensing course during the current six month Grant period. The current (third) season runs from July 1st to December 31st 2005. There are no strings attached to the Grant, no repayment required and the sole purpose of the Grant is to help rookie agents become successful in their new career as real estate agents. The Grant is judged on the basis of answers to essay questions, which demonstrate: Salesmanship and communication skills, entrepreneurial spirit, integrity, creativity and uniqueness. These answers are judged by an independent panel of 12 judges. The black tie Power Broker Dinner is known as the “who’s who in real estate” event of the year and is attended by most real estate brokerage CEO’s, Major financial institutions, title and insurance companies as well as many other of the industry’s most influential real estate leaders. The program last week included Speaker John Featherston, President & CEO of RISMedia, Publisher of Real Estate magazine; Virginia Cook of the National Association of REALTORS®; John Powers, Author, Motivational Speaker; and Tom Dreesen, Comedian/Entertainer. The Good Neighborhood Award founded by eNeighborhoods and the National Homeownership Award sponsored by Bank of America were also announced at the event.
